Maragondon Day and Alay Lakad 2015

alay lakadAs early as 4:00A.M., town folks from different barangays stationed at the front of Municipal Hall on September 07, 2015 to join the whole municipality in celebrating its 288th Founding Anniversary and annual conduct of Alay Lakad. Participants from business sector, education sector, religious sector and other non-government organizations filled the crowd and started the walk at 7:00A.M. A total of 2,349 attendees were recorded.
The biggest “boboto”, a local delicacy of Maragondon, Kawayang Maragondon handcrafted and engineered products, best cuisines of Lolo Claro’s, Kusina ni Inga and Mang Tomas Pares, Kadang Kadang as Palaro ng Lahi were all featured at Umagang Kayganda of ABS-CBN.

A wreath laying ceremony was put into place in commemoration of the 151st birth anniversary of General Emiliano L. Riego De Dios (September 7, 1864 - February 4, 1926), a native of Maragondon, Cavite, a revolutionary leader and the secretary-general of the Asociacion de los Veteranos de la Revolucion.
Maragondon Ladies Association, Office of the Senior Citizens’ Association, Veterans Federation of Maragondon, Magtagumpay Lodge No. 410 Free and Accepted Masons and Mt. Mainam Lodge No. 49 Free and Accepted Masons, Banco Maragondon, Maragondon Water District, Department of Education(Elementary and Secondary level), PUP-Maragondon Branch, AFP/PNP Enlisted Men/PNCO Retired Honorable Discharged Association, Liga ng mga Barangay, Sangguniang Bayan, Riego de Dios Clan and the Office of the Municipal Mayor participated in the wreath laying ceremony.

Rev. Fr. Mario A. De Leon, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Assumption conducted a mass at the covered court at 8:00A.M.
Mr. Rhonnel Soberano, historian and teacher from Bucal National High School gave us a glimpse of Maragondon history. Vice-Mayor Ireneo C. Angeles welcomed everyone in attendance. Kids from New Covenant Church offered a special intermission number.

POLICE DIRECTOR GENERAL RICARDO CORNEJO MARQUEZ, Chief of Philippine National Police, great son of Maragondon graced the occasion and served as Guest Speaker. Mayor Reynaldo A. Rillo described him as a true blooded Maragondonian who raise the bar of excellence and integrity, a man who spends himself in a worthy cause, a man who strives valiantly, a man of honor and dignity and a man with great vision. Along with PNP Chief Marquez was her wife Luzviminda B. Marquez, PRO4A Regional Director PCSUPT RICHARD A ALBANO and Cavite Police Provincial Office Officer-In-Charge Director PSSUPT ELISEO DELA CRUZ CRUZ.
The much-awaited street dancing competition put so much excitement in the occasion. This year’s competition was participated in by 15 public elementary schools, 6 public high schools and 2 groups at the collegiate level. Cash assistance amounting to P10,000.00 were given to each participating school. Mayor Rey deemed it necessary to grant financial assistance to our schools because he is fully aware of the expenses that one has to shoulder in participating for the street dancing.
Garbed with costume made from bamboo, enhanced with dancing skills, trained with breathtaking moves, student dancers once proved that Maragondonians are truly gifted with talents.

CHAMPION- BUCAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

1ST RUNNER-UP – MARAGONDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Cash Prize of P5,000.00 and Trophy
2ND RUNNER-UP – BUCAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL-STA. MERCEDES ANNEX
Cash Prize of P3,000.00 and Trophy

BS Entrepreneurship students from PUP-Maragondon Branch grabbed the championship in street dancing at the college level. They got a cash prize of P3,000.00 and trophy.

A consolation prize of P1,000 was given to non-winning schools.
The Board of Judges for the Street Dancing Competition were composed of Ms. Catherine Diquit from ABS-CBN, Ms. Liberty Herrera(Provincial Tourism Officer), Mr. Ruben Quinto(Tourism Officer of Rosario, Vice President, Provincial Association of Tourism Officers), Mr. Ronnie Aguilar(Area Manager, JPC Globe).
Ms. Precious Nicolle Diloy(1st Runner-up Miss Southeast Asian Beauty Pageant 2014, Miss Cavite 2014), and Ms. Ivy Pinlac (Mutya ng Maragondon 2015) also joined the event.

Raffle draws with Three Major prizes and 10 Consolation prizes were given away during the celebration.

Salute to all the teachers, parents, students, guests, spectators, Municipal Officials and Employees of Maragondon, Maragondon PNP headed by PSI ERNESTO BAYSAN CAPARAS, JR.
Our warmest thanks to Ms. Mylene D. Hernandez and Ms. Ferry Angeline Sisracon, teachers from Cavite National Science High School for successfully managing the flow of the entire program as Masters of Ceremonies.

Ms. Ana Clariza G. Alcantara(Acting Tourism Officer) and SB Member Victor O. Lucerna(Chairman, Committee on Tourism) worked so hard for the success of this year’s Maragondon Day celebration.
